The 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four teams. Each team playing one match against each of the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a defeat.
The ranking of teams in each group will be determined as follows:
1.greater number of points obtained in all the group matches;
2.greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
3.goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
4.greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the teams concerned;
5.goal difference in all the group matches;
6.greater number of goals scored in all the group matches;
7.position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system;
8.fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);
9.drawing of lots by the Organising Committee.
The two teams finishing first and second in each group qualify for the Quarter-finals.
Knockout stage
Quarter-finals
The 8 teams that qualify from the group stage shall play the quarter-finals as follows:
Winner Group A vs Runner-up Group B = 1
Winner Group B vs Runner-up Group A = 2
Winner Group C vs Runner-up Group D = 3
Winner Group D vs Runner-up Group C = 4
Semi-finals
The 4 teams that advance from the quarter-finals shall play the semi-finals as follows:
Winner 1 vs Winner 3
Winner 2 vs Winner 4
Final
The two winners of the semi-finals qualify for the final.
If in the knockout stage, a match stands as a draw after 90 minutes, extra time will be played in two sessions of 15 minutes each. If the score is still level at the end of extra time, penalty shoot-out will take place to determine the winner.
