Sao Paulo vs Gremio
Gremio to keep their average away form with another draw
After getting his third yellow card last round, Sao Paulo’s center back Rafael Toloi got suspended. Also, they sold Lucas to the side Paris Saint-Germain but the midfielder who’s in London with the national team will be back to Sao Paulo next week, as he’ll only join the French next year.
As for Gremio, they have Fernando back, which will help improving their midfield but center back Vilson got injured and will miss this round.
Suspended: Rafael Toloi
Injured/unavailable: Wellington (fit), Canete (knee), Osvaldo (thigh), Fabricio (knee), Luis Fabiano (thigh), Lucas (Olympics), Bruno Uvini (Olympics)
Injured/unavailable: Julio Cesar (knee), Fabio Aurelio (knee), Vilson (shoulder)
Sao Paulo are coming from a 2-1 away loss against Fluminense but the most concerning bit is that goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni failed in the first goal. Before he got injured, his failures were becoming something usual and they seem to be back now.
Gremio played away too in the midweek but in their case, they drew 0-0 against Ponte Preta and it was their first draw in the league. Now, with another away match, they won’t have the same luck.
Sao Paulo’s goalkeeper might not be on his best form but even without Luis Fabiano and Lucas, they keep scoring and that’s why they are going to win this match. We can expect Gremio to score too though, which will give us a high score. Expect a win for Sao Paulo.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time Sao Paulo lost a match against Gremio at home was in 2008. That was their only home loss against this weekend’s opponents in the last decade, and that day Gremio beat them 1-0.
